Atlanta is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Atlanta is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Georgia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

It seems there’s no oversight for any part of the aquatics department. Summer camp children use the competition pool locker rooms to change when the other side of the locker room is left unlocked and accessible. When notifying the Aquatics Staff, they mentioned competitive sports would order signage. What? Let me reiterate. Groups of children are using your locker room and unsupervised when inside of it, with the potential of adults using it at the same time. Do better. Locker rooms are also left in terrible condition after high school swim teams are finished with it. Paper towels stuck to walls. All the soap is constantly poured out. The shower caddies are all missing. This is a reoccurring trend. One time, there was Gyro meat in a soap dispenser. Very excited to pay premium rates for an Olympic level facility that’s run like a community center. Exactly zero of the shower handles in both locker rooms work correctly. Hot is cold. Cold is hot. Sometimes there’s only cold. Mostly, there’s only hot. Renovations or standard upkeep is nonexistent. The aquatics hours are also subject to change within the hour or be completely unreliable. The website says today (6/21/26) that the leis

The Georgia Tech Recreation Center is one of the best campus gyms I’ve seen. It has everything—an Olympic-sized pool with a water slide, diving wells, and lap lanes, a huge rock climbing wall, multiple basketball and squash courts, an indoor track, and tons of workout equipment spread across multiple levels. The design is impressive, with courts suspended above the pool and solar panels powering part of the facility. It’s always clean, well-maintained, and there’s usually space to work out even during busy hours. Sometimes staff response can feel a bit slow, but overall it’s a world-class facility that makes working out or just relaxing really enjoyable.

I love this campus. It has evolved so beautifully over the last 28 years since I was a student. Wish I could go back. The people and students are amazing there. Go Jackets!

This is an excellent gym with all the equipment and facilities I need. All GT students know this already and I know many alumni who maintain an alumni membership after graduation particularly if you want to swim. Things can get pretty busy in the evenings as with any gym but there is plenty of space to get a workout in anyway. I’ve also rented portions of the facility for events and it has always been an excellent experience. The staff has been professional and more than helpful during planning and execution of the event. Parking can be a bit of a pain but as long as your guests know ahead of time we haven’t had many complaints.
